The Drama surrounding Jason Taylor

-Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports (formerly of the Miami Herald) reports that JT and the Fins have decided to amicably split by the draft.

Makes a lot of sense. Though...

ESPN reports that Parcells says that Yahoo's report is, "a journalistic irresponsibility." Which means, he's refuting the report.

I believe Cole. He's as credible as they come. He's as good a reporter as I know in this business. Just ask Reggie Bush (Cole broke the story about how Reggie was on the take) & Bill Parcells himself(Cole was first to report that the Dolphins & Parcells had a mutual interest in each other).

I think Parcells is pulling a Pat Riley. Remember the HEAT weren't trading Shaq either.

Here's why. Chris Mortensen on the 6pm SportsCenter when asked what would the Dolphins do w/ the # 1 pick he responded with his opinion. But, then added he also wouldn't be surprised if the rumors & rumblings involving Jason Taylor being traded would come to fruition. He said it was nothing substantiated, but wouldn't be surprised if something happend down the road.

The Jason Cole Yahoo report came out at around 8:30pm. Cole & Mortensen were hearing the same things. One guy was hearing it from JT's camp. The other guy Mortensen, was hearing it from the horse's mouth. His former colleague Bill Parcells. It seems like he just didn't wanna go strong with it b/c he wanted to conserve the relationship. This is so obvious.

JT is now in a tough spot. It's obvious Parcells think that JT's people leaked this. He's not big on leaks.

Considering, the Dolphins have been telling agents that if they leak word of a free agent visit, the visit will be canceled. The word has been getting out anyway.

He's put Taylor in the position to publicly ask for a trade, which he doesn't wanna do. JT as most atheltes are are big on image. The captain & most recognizable player on the team doesn't wanna look like he's abandoning The Titanic before it begins to sink. Parcells doesn't wanna be the bad guy. He wanted this handled on the down low. Well, too late for that.

Not too late for the trade though. Parcell's isn't dumb enough to not trade JT. He's the only piece he has that can bring back anything of value. JT may just have to expand on his season ending thoughts, about not knowing if this was the place for him b/c he wants to win as bad as anyone. Miami will always be his home. He may just have to work somewhere else. Come out publicly & state that you aren't interested in another rebuilding project. Most people will understand. Why wouldn't they? This franchise has already wasted his best years.

Some will feel scorned, but certainly understand. Others will hate just b/c they're irrational and that's what fans are. I think it'll be the minority. You can't please everyone. If you're Jason Taylor you've gone that route several times now with this team. It's time for you. The clock is running out on your career. Be selfish, you have earned the right. Anyone in your position would do the same if the opportunity were there. Those that don't think so? Are lying to themselves.
